Where to buy Borax for Fleas

Last week I had had couple e-mails from two ladies who were not able to find Borax for fleas. At first I did not understand why they where unable to find one single box. Even in the small town that I live in it is not hard to find. As my wife and I do our weekly shopping on Saturday morning we hopped in the Jeep and headed off to and I hate to say it, Walmart. When we arrived I wondered off to the detergent aisle to see if they still had 20 Mule Team Borax. After a few minutes there it was near the bottom on the next to the last shelve. They only had one size box as do most places that I have found it.A 76 oz box for the price of $3.38.To me that is a bargain, not for the price but you can use it for a lot of different things around the house.

where to buy boraxcan be found at several different types of chain stores. From Target,Food Lion and Kroger. Here is a store locator 20 mule team’s website to help you find the one closest to you.I have also found it in Hardware store, mainly older mom and pop outfits. Who have used borax themselves. You can buy it at Amazon, $13.02 with  free shipping. I think that is way of high. You can buy two boxes for that price, but it will be delivered to your front door, If you can’t find any near your home or it will be a long drive use Amazon as a last resort.

If all fails have any long distance friends or family who may have it in their city mail you a box. If you checked the store locator hopefully you can get your hands on a box of borax for fleas and start to rid your home of theses unwanted invaders. Time and time again I have used this product and it has never let me down.As always if you have any comments or questions ,just drop me a line.

P.S. if your local walmart doesn’t carry it, order a box from them online and have it shipped to your closest store or your home.

Borax Fleas in Yard

Borax Fleas in YardBorax Fleas in Yard. If your pets are like mine running around outside in the yard then wanting back in 5 minutes later, like a couple of little kids. The chances are good that they are picking up fleas and bringing them into your home.Fleas are attracted to animals by there body heat and there breath.Mainly co 2 gas as they exhale. Also vibrations as they run and explore the outdoors. Using borax in the yard may be an alternative, instead of buying an over priced name brand . Borax twenty mule team  is nothing more than laundry soap additive.Which is not bad when compared to a man-made flea poison. The only draw back to borax the fleas in your yard is  keeping your dog(s)  off the lawn for at least 24 hours .You could always take them to the park for the next day or two.

First clear the yard

Pick up everything you can out off the yard ,that you don’t want borax on. As you will be spreading it everywhere your pets hang out,run and do their business. As borax is a very dry powder you want it to be as dry out in the yard as possible. With no chance of rain for the next couple of days. What I have done in the past is to break up the yard into sections, where I do only the front yard and let then out back and vise verse. Also at this time I always mow the grass.  I drop the blades down one notch lower than I normally would to get as close to the fleas as I can. This also helps ,because you will not be on your yard for a few days.

Applying Borax  in Yard

You can go about this in a couple of ways. You can spread it around the yard by hand ,wearing gloves of coarse. or a jar made into a large salt shaker. I don’t like to use the jar, because when your hand sweats its hard to hand on to.What I do like to use is a lawn spreader for seeding and feeding your grass. You can find cheap ones at lowe’s or home depot for around $20.00 dollars. Just remember to wash it out with clean water when are are done.

After you have given the borax a day or two to work. The last step is to rinse off the yard with a garden hose or sprinkler ,this will knock the remaining borax down into the soil . I always wait a few hours before I let them back in yard, just to let the water dry up.

Well that’s all there is to Borax Fleas in Yard. Good luck and if you have any questions drop me a line.

Does Borax kill Fleas

Does Borax kill Fleas?the answer would have to be yes. There is no doubt in my mind as I have used Borax to kill fleas for over four years now. If you use borax 20 mule team laundry detergent additive. Not the boric acid used to kill ants ,it is very poisonous and should not be used with or instead off the 20 mule borax. I just don’t understand why there are so many reports of people saying that Borax is poisonous when there clearly using boric acid from a bottle that has a skull and cross Bones.I don’t understand I want to make the mistake of between the two. If you read my last post borax for fleas I made a basic outline in the steps and how to go about getting rid of fleas in your house.

How does borax kill fleas?

So you’re probably wondering how does Borax kill fleas? This will be a two-part answer. 1. think of it like sandpaper , When a flea comes into contact with the Borax which even after being ground into powder still has crystal like surface, it etches into the fleas skin. Fleas are also like ants ,they have exoskeletons it is their only defense. As they run across or land on borax it cuts into them leaving the borax in the cut.

2. Now that the damage has been done it is it e to finish them off. The borax dries up all of the fleas bodily fluids until they are dead. This is why it is so important to leave it set on the carpet, floors and furniture as long as you can.

High Humidity precautions

If you live in a high humidity location don’t leave the borax no for more than 24 hours. It will absorb the moisture out of the air giving you an sticky mess to clean up.

Get them where they live.

Flea control for your home is what we are concerned with today. Your pets we will get into that a bother time. The most important thing you can do to increase your chance of killing all the fleas on the first go round. Get every nook and cranny. Every possible place a flea could hide. Under kick panels ,stoves transitions from carpet to vinyl or hardwood. If your vacuum does not have a crevice tool get one or like I did borrowed one from my shop vac.

Does borax kill fleas? Again yes it does. If you put forth the effort, it will do the rest.
